This trip aims to give you an exciting, diverse and well-rounded experience of all Arabic cuisine. While we endeavor to cater for specific dietary requirements, some meals and food activities are set in advance and may be difficult to adjust. In many countries, dietary restrictions are not common or well understood. If you have dietary requirements, please advise us at time of booking to receive information on how this may impact on your ability to take part in included activities and meals. Come with an open mind and open mouth, and you won’t be disappointed. Jordan’s climate is hot and dry in the summer. Wear loose clothing and make sure you stay hydrated, especially while out on walking tours. 

Amman: Amman is the capital of Jordan, we will visit the most important souks and attractions.

Ajloun: a hilly town in the north of Jordan, located 76 north west of Amman. It is noted for its impressive ruins of the 12th-century Ajloun Castle.

Petra:  the famous rose city of the Nabataean kingdom.

Enjoy the magical city with it’s rose colored stone, the big carved buildings, and the hidden secrets in it’s details.

Wadi Rum: Discover the desserts most important adventure sites, massive mountains, Bedouin life style

Day 1: Airport Amman, Iraqi and Gulf food
Ahlan wa sahlan ! Welcome to jordan. Amman is the capital city – filled with historical sites from different eras, museums and galleries, shops and endless restaurants, there’s plenty to see, do, and eat. Your adventure begins with an important welcome at the airport. Afterwards, celebrate the start of a memorable food adventure with a short stroll to a local Iraqi restaurant. Here you'll enjoy your first taste of Iraqi flavors over a delicious table. Will start with masgouf, dolma, kas, baegla, baja and their famous kabab, will also sit with the chef to talk about Iraqi food and go through the restaurant's secret recipes. Perhaps partake in a kunafa with arabic ice cream (cheeses style dessert) after dinner from a hole-in-the-wall place, considered one of the top-spots for kunafa in the Middle east. If we have time we will visit one of the best Yamani and Gulf food places in Amman and taste the food they have. Accommodation: 3 to 5 Stars Hotel

Day 2: Amman Lebanese and Syrian food and Jordanian cooking class
  This morning venture out to Amman best Lebanese to have our breakfast with Lebanese chief to have muhamra, makdous with walnuts, allipo olives, tomato with garlic, fried halloumi, sambousek, Lebanese falafel, hummus, mutabal, baba ghanouj, liver with pomegranate  After breakfast will roam the streets of the downtown looking into different fruits and vegetables from fresh food market, also will visit the roman theater before we head to a local kitchen to have cooking class about Jordanian food   .After lunch, will visit the citadel then go to have dinner in one of the best Syrian restaurants in the town with its different plates from kibbeh labaneh, yalanji, and fatet makdous to the different kind of salads and arabic ice cream with pistachio then head to our hotel. Accommodation: 3 to 5 Stars Hotel

Day 3: Ajloun Jordanian and Palestinian food in farmers houses
Get your first experience of Jordanian and Palestinian food with um ahmad the local farmer, will start with a breakfast rich of flavour, qalayet bandora, fresh olives and olive oil, labaneh, and in the stone oven over the charcoal you'll bake the traditional pie's with Wild Thyme and sumaq After this great meal we will head to visit Ajloun castle and Mar Elias church to know more about the region's history  Then will move to um sameer house to Meet a passionate cook, who'll teach you how to prepare classics such as Magloubeh and makmorah and other Palestinian and Jordanian food and see how it's different than other Arabic food Then will go back to Amman to see what is the culture of Jordanian meat in a traditional restaurant with there different kind of meat and sheep cooking  demonstration.  Accommodation: 3 to 5 Stars Hotel

Day 4:
Petra the rose city and cooking class in Petra kitchen    Drive to the ‘Pink City’ of Petra (approximately 4 hours). Petra was designed by nabataeans and has delighted visitors for centuries with its pink-stone and magical carved buildings. Will arrive to Petra and have the city tour to see it then will go back to Wadi Musa to the Jordanian kitchen and meet the chief who will teach us the secrets of Jordanian bedouin food  Before we enter Petra we will have some local food from the area. Accommodation: 3 to 5 Stars Hotel

Day 5: Wadi Rum and bedouin zarb experience
Travel out to the old capital of nabataean and explore the desert of Wadi Rum with it's massive views  Set in stunning surroundings and will do a jeep tour in the desert to explore the area and the Bedouin will make us galayet bandora for lunch in the desert After sunset will go to the campsite and start a cooking class with a bedouin to show us how to cook food under the ground using charcoal Will have the best meal ever and continue with stargazing in the camp and go to sleep to go back to Amman next day

Day 6: Amman Jordanian and arabic food 
After local breakfast Leave the desert behind and drive approximately 4 hours to Amman to a local heritage restaurant located in the Jabal Weibdeh In this special place we will find a big menu of all traditional food in Jordan,  collected around 55 local dishes from a lot of different cities and served in infront of you.

Day 7: Free time
Free time to roam the city and try different food on your own before heading to the airport to end this beautiful adventure.      

Important note 

  All Intrepid group trips are accompanied by one of our group leaders. The aim of the group leader is to take the hassle out of your travels and to help you have the best trip possible. You can expect your Intrepid Food Adventures group leader to be passionate about the local food scene and keen to share their insider knowledge on the best authentic local food and drink experiences throughout your trip.   Your leader will provide information on the places you are traveling through, offer suggestions for things to do and see, recommend great local eating venues, and introduce you to our local friends. While not being guides in the traditional sense you can expect them to have a broad general knowledge of the places visited on the trip, including historical, cultural, religious, and social aspects. At Intrepid we aim to support local guides who have specialized knowledge of the regions we visit. If you were interested in delving deeper into the local culture at a specific site or location then your leader can recommend a local guide service in most of the main destinations of your trip.
During the tour, you will stay in great hotels and camps that are run by locals. In Amman, you are staying close to the centre in downtown or alwebdeh, so according to your arrival time you can enjoy exploring a bit of Jordanian hospitality.  In petra you will stay in a local cuzy hotel that are run by the Bedouin community of that area. In wadi rum you will stay in bedouin camp deep inside the desert, where the nights are dark enough to see the stars like never before, and enjoy your night having Bedouin tea around the fire with bedouins and other travelers and share your stories about jordan

  All of jonavigators staff is already fully vaccinated and they get tested constantly.   Cleaning Uses cleaning chemicals that are effective against coronavirus. Linens, towels and laundry washed in line with local authority guidelines. Guest accommodation is disinfected between stays. The accommodation partners we work with follow the guidelines of local authorities. Equipment for activities is disinfected before and/or after use. Physical distancing Cashless payment available. Drivers, guides and staff maintain a distance from the clients at all times possible. Activities take place outside mostly. Safety features Staff follow all safety protocols as directed by the local government. Hand sanitizer available in guest rooms, vehicles and key areas. First aid kit available. A room is available to isolate suspected or infected COVID-19 patients. Protective masks are available for all staff.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane Please book your flight to arrive at Queen Alia International Airport (AMM). Jonavigators can arrange pick-up and transport in Jordan from anywhere if you are already in Jordan, or if you want to stay longer and travel around after.   Amman: Queen Alia International Airport  Aqaba: king Hussain international airport

Cancellation policy

Early reservations are highly recommended A reservation requires a deposit of 40% of the total price. The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled before 30 days of the trip The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
